I just don't understand the callousness. Maybe I have this twisted belief that Jalopnik represents the more intellectual (or at least honest) of car folks on the web, a small subset of a small subset of the overall population. And yet people are just so awful for no reason; its like 4chan rejects on the FP...I thought the internet was just starting to grow out of that teenager mentality.

Jalopnik is too popular these days. Oppo has relatively small population compared to there, and we're all awesome, and the moderators keep us in check. I think we're so nice to each other because we fear losing what we love most. If I were to get banned here, I'd break my computer, 100% guaranteed.

Not everyone on here is perfect. I'm sure a ton of people hate me. And there are plenty of dickheads on here. But compared to Jalopnik the cool guy to dickhead ratio is much lower here on Oppo.

Well there are at least a few who have specifically said they won't read my stuff anymore, but it was only a few and I honestly don't care. On the whole most people on Oppo have been super supportive, even when I write bad things.

True there is a difference between the two. When I say dickhead I think of people that bitch about typo's and other small errors and make a huge deal about it and then accuse me of making them read my stuff and wasting their life. They're also the ones that just insult me and my writing but offer no reason why. They just say things like "well you're an idiot," or something like that. I don't mind criticism, but at least be constructive.
